The Arts

The Martin County Council for the Arts brings the arts groups together and coordinates many cultural activities.

With a grant provided by the state they were able to restore the old Martin County Courthouse to its original architectural design. Inside are the Council offices and an art gallery. The first exhibit in the complex was a showing of the works of Ansel Adams.

The Council also sponsors "Artfest" which allows residents to show off their work. Other cultural activities include theater, contemporary dance companies, literature readings, a folk music series, art leagues and professional entertainment.

The Center for Art and Soul gives families and individuals of all ages the opportunity to come together and enjoy creative expression and to pursue instruction in the art form that suits their dreams. They include dance, theater, music, art, pottery, martial arts, healing arts and more.

The Lyric Theater host a variety of events including classical theater, rock and country bands, orchestra and jazz concerts, dance recitals and even nationally known performers.

Also in Stuart is the Barn Theater, located on East Ocean Blvd., which offers a variety of programs and plays featuring local talented performers.
